It's been a while since I've updated but I hope you'll understand that it's because I'm so busy.
TOMY and ROGER both recovered well.
Roger took a while as his mouth was really bothering him and he didn't want to eat anything but I've been mixing very soft food with kitten milk and that was the only thing he wanted to eat.
After 2 weeks he started eating normal soft food and came back to his normal routine, i.e. always begging for more food and that's how we like to see him!

FRANK
On the 16th April we've received a message from a woman who didn't want her cat anymore because "he was sitting on her son's face" and threatened that if we wouldn't home him, she would put him to sleep.
Of course I bluffed that no vet would put down a healthy cat but to be honest I'm not that sure as you find all kind of vets on this island...
I've put him up for adoption and fortunately he found a home with an elderly couple and his owner handed him over on the 19th April 2021.
So far so good...
As always I stayed in touch with the couple who adopted him (although he wasn't our cat) and in the beginning they were quite happy with him but little by little complaints about his loud voice were coming in and one week ago, 21st May 2021, they sent a message that they couldn't keep him anymore as they couldn't cope with his shouting.
Of course we understood that he was doing this because he was traumatized. His former owner had him for 5 years and brought him to Malta from Abu Dhabi and for sure he loved his owner and her son!
What to do?
At first I put him up for adoption again and of course a lot of people were condemning the people who adopted him but I didn't see this right: the only person who should be condemned is his first owner!
Although he wasn't our cat and we didn't even know him, we decided to take him in and last Monday, 24th May, I went to pick him up.
We'd prepared a room for him where he could stay on his own for the first days but Copper Dewdrop managed to slip in and surprisingly Frank seemed to like his company and even Copper seemed to like him.
Yesterday we've let him out of his room to meet the other indoor cats (35) and we have to give him 10 points for getting on so well with all of them; now and then there are some clashes, especially when he starts shouting (he really SHOUTS!) and the other cats are scared of him but we keep our fingers crossed that soon everybody will be in peace again.....

VET DAY
TOMY and ROGER went to the vet.
TOMY seemed to have problems in his mouth so we booked him for a dental.
Obviously this was VERY much needed as his teeth are very bad and today 7 teeth were removed.
He'll have antibiotics and painkillers for the next 7 days.

ROGER had a dental on the 8th April 2021 and never recovered.
He had a course of antibiotics from the 15th till 24th April 2021 but he still wasn't eating and seemed to be in pain so he had a check up.
Obviously his gums are very inflamed, poor boy, so he had a steroid injection.

FUXA.... our trouble boy...
Every year in spring Fuxa suffers from a skin condition: Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex.
Until last year he always got a steroid injection, unfortunately the only thing that really helps, but last year he had a blood cloth in his lungs after 2 days so he can't have a steroid injection anymore.
A big problem!
There is a medicine which could help him (Atopica) and we would like to give this to him but our vet told us that this could cause liver and kidney problems so that's out of the question too....
For now we're giving him Zylkene, a stress reliever as he's grooming himself excessively, and antihistamine (Zyrtec) as our last resort....
Fingers crossed!
