April 2024
26th April 2024
We had an appointment at the vet for LUCA to remove the stitches and a dental but unfortunately an emergency came up for our vet so only the stitches were removed.
Although he needs a dental, in our opinion it's even better that he didn't have another surgery today as he's still recovering from his last surgery.
His ear is still hanging down and he looks a bit sad but hopefully he'll be better soon and strong enough for another surgery.

This morning we noticed that LIAM couldn't pee (again!!). It's only one month ago that he had the same problem..
We rushed him to the vet, where he was seen immediately (as it's an emergency).
He had a stone at the top of his penis and fortunately the vet managed to push it out without surgery.
A urine test was done and unfortunately there were a lot of crystals so for sure he'll have the same problem again; he should be on urinary food ONLY but this is a problem because we don't keep cats in cages and with so many other cats, there's always food everywhere...
He's on antibiotics for 10 days and he'll have a paste in his food which is acidifying and moderating the level of magnesium.

Two males were neutered.
One from our street (we'll never know where he came from) and the other one from one of our feeding places.
Years ago we had ALL the strays in our feeding places neutered, completely in control, but unfortunately these last years unwanted cats are dumped and they are coming from everywhere to get food. It's a very sad situation....

LUCA is much better!
He's an exemplary patient and is taking his antibiotics and painkillers without any problems.

15th April 2024
LUCA had surgery today; his cauliflower ear was drained and stopped from filling up again.
At the same time a tooth was extracted but he needs more so on the 26th April he'll have a dental and the stitches in his ear will be removed.
He's on antibiotics for 7 days and pain killer for 4 days.
It was again "one of those days"....
To catch Luca this morning was a BIG challenge! He's a big and very strong cat so it took Charlie and me some time to put him in a carrier and we didn't end up without bites and scratches!
Charlie left at 10.30 am and came back at 4.30 pm! That's no joke!
We have to be on time for a vet appointment (fair enough) but obviously OUR time doesn't count!
And this is how poor Luca looks right now... we feel sooooo sorry for him and can only hope that he'll be better very soon!😪

After some weeks of sorrow it's time to post some happy pictures again.
Our babies are growing!
Ivy is missing as she's camera shy and it's impossible to take a picture....
LUCA has a cauliflower ear.
He'll have surgery on Monday 15th April 2024 to drain the ear and to prevent filling up again.
