Happy Easter!
A real blessing as Liam recovered completely!

The day we were dreading finally arrived...
DAVY was getting worse these last days; he had difficulties eating and was obviously in pain. He already had a big lump (like a ball) in his mouth and he would suffocate as this would block his trachea in no time.
We had to make the final decision not to let him suffer so we made an appointment at the vet to send him over the rainbow bridge.
It's breaking our hearts, especially mine as he was my first bottle fed baby 17 years ago.
Fly high baby, we loved you so much and you'll be in our hearts forever ❤

We had to take SALT to the vet also as he was also getting worse.
He lost the strength in his back legs and we noticed also spots on his ears so we suspected that the (nose)cancer spread.
Unfortunately we were right as the vet confirmed that his ears and nose were all cancer and nothing could be done about his back legs.
So we had to make another terrible decision....

LIAM had to be at the vet again also this morning.
He was flushed and at least we had good news about him as his urine was clear.
He needs antibiotics and painkiller for 6 days.

This morning we noticed that LIAM couldn't pee as he was going in and out the litterbox continuously and he didn't look well. This condition could be fatal in 24 hours so we rushed him to the vet.
His bladder was completely full with pee so he was given a catheter and drip and had to stay in the clinic for the day.
He had an ultrasound, blood test and urine test; only the top of his penis was blocked, fortunately no stones but only some sediments.
Because we noticed in an early stage and we acted quickly, hopefully he'll be fine soon.
Our vet can't keep animals in the clinic during the night anymore so we had to pick him up at 8 pm and bring him back tomorrow morning at 9 am.

Some of our cats on a sunny Sunday.
16th March 2024
Finally another little update...
I had to go to the Netherlands for my fathers' 94th birthday and had to leave my husband Charlie with the care of all our cats; I didn't have to worry as he's the VERY best cat daddy but still I was worried that something would happen with Davy and/or Salt when I was away. Thank God this didn't happen.
DAVY is still the same although the swelling under his eye came a little bit bigger.
I've been talking to our vet this week and she told me that we can keep him on the painkillers as they'll help with the pain but that at some point we'll have to discuss quality of life and the possibility of having to decide on euthanasia.
Of course we know that we'll come to this point but as long as he's eating well, likes to go into the garden now and then and likes to cuddle up with us, we'll keep a close eye on him and hope he'll stay with us a little bit longer.
As soon as we see that he's not happy anymore we'll have to make the most terrible decision😪

SALT is definitely suffering from dementia.
He's peeing and pooing everywhere, even on the table in front of our face, and he doesn't realise that he's doing something wrong. So sad... and nothing can be done about it.
We just clean up the mess and will see where this will go.
