The end of December 2023 we noticed that FRANKIE had a "hanging belly". A lot of cats have this after neutering but he had it really big so we were worried and contacted the vet.
We were told that it's a normal area where they get fat deposits after neutering but that it could create issues such as sores by rubbing against the floor and that it could be also more serious issues such as a tumour.
Frankie is a real feral cat, we saved him from the valley in 2020 together with some other kittens; he had a bulging eye which had to removed.
Last Sunday we noticed that his (hanging) belly was bloody so he must have had it rubbed against the floor.
We were VERY upset seeing this, it really looked bad, and the days after we have been trying to catch him every day but to no avail...
Finally we caught him yesterday and we took him to the vet today.
He was examined by our very dedicated vets and unfortunately it turned out to be a HUGE tumour 😪
And nothing could be done...😿
Fly high sweet Frankie, you were one of our most sweet feral cats and we'll never forget you ❤💖

SALT was also taken to the vet.
He has nose cancer and lately he got some more spots on his nose.
He was examined thoroughly by the vet. Because he's letting his pee go everywhere his urine was checked and everything was fine (no stones, no infection) so the vet's opinion was that he has dementia.
His kidneys are still ok, he lost a bit of weight but overall he's doing fine.
He was given a steroid injection.

Today it was the turn of MICHA to be groomed.
She never wants to be brushed, if she only sees a brush... she runs!
We had her groomed at the vet some times, under sedation, but as we don't want to sedate her all the time we took her to our groomer Rhonda Zammit.
It was a nightmare to groom her and it took us 2,5 hours (!) as Micha was so matted and had so many knots but Rhonda is very patient and dedicated so Micha came out as a pretty girl!
We couldn't be more grateful for such a great groomer!

Last Sunday we noticed a lump under the eye of DAVY.
For who doesn't know: Davy was my first bottle fed rescued baby. He was neglected by his mother, most probably because he wasn't "perfect": he had very bad infected eyes and by the time we caught him, one of his eyes was already lost. At least I managed to save the other eye.
Our vet at that time advised me to leave the eye how it was and not remove it; most probably nowadays it would be removed to prevent future problems but 17 years ago there wasn't that much knowledge yet.
Thankfully he never had any problems but now there was something seriously wrong...
We contacted our vet who gave him an antibiotics course for 5 days and painkiller for 3 days and we made an appointment for today so she could see him personally.
He was seen by two vets and unfortunately their "final verdict" was that he has a tumour under his eye which could be operated: removing the eye and quite a big area around it but because of his age (he's 17 years old) they advised not to operate him as the surgery would take at least 2 hours which most probably he wouldn't' survive and even if he would, there would be a big chance that he wouldn't survive after.
We were shocked but of course we don't want him to suffer so now we're keeping him on a long term pain killer (which doesn't harm his kidneys) and are hoping for the best.
At least he doesn't' seem to be in pain, is still lively and eating very well.
His life expectancy is only a few weeks but we hope and pray that they are wrong.

In the afternoon I had an appointment at the groomer for GREGORY as he was matted and full of knots.
He's a very difficult cat: he doesn't want to be brushed and being a Persian means that these knots build up very quickly.
I'm so grateful for our groomer who takes the time to groom him although it's a VERY difficult job! He screams, bites and scratches! Of course I'm helping her and hold him, but still....
He didn't come out as the most handsome boy but at least all the matted areas and knots were removed.
And we survived too....🤣

Two stray cats were neutered: a male and a female.
The female has antibiotics for 5 days and will be released on Sunday 18th February.
The male was collected by his feeder on the 13th February because he wanted to keep him inside his house and unfortunately we weren't able to take a picture of him.

MONA is missing her soulmate LISA a lot; it's heart breaking to see her sad so we're trying to pamper her as much as we can to make her happy.
